Since not all plant components are soluble in water, alcohol is critical to this formula. We have fine-tuned every aspect of our formula in order to successfully draw out the most desirable active compounds from our Echinacea angustifolia pure root and whole plant blend. This precise and time-consuming process provides consistent results in our echinacea extract/tincture; however, to maintain our high standards for quality and efficacy, every lot we make is tested.

In fact, we regularly test our plants for these substances and fine-tune our processes in response.

In any given growing period, there are always a handful of Echinacea super-plants—the largest and most robust plants in our plot. Looks can be deceiving, however, since the stature of these plants does not necessarily reflect the potency of their active compounds. For our astute research team, it’s what’s inside that counts. Echinacea Seed Selection.

A typical echinacea plant produces between 800-1000 seeds in full bloom and no two seeds among the lot are the same. In fact, no seed carries identical DNA to the mother plant. This is Nature’s way of mitigating risk and ensuring that at least one echinacea seed will survive and propagate.

Health Canada has developed strict guidelines for the production of natural health products such as echinacea tincture. At Three Feather Farms, we do not waiver from these requirements. These guidelines, do, however, allow for slight variances in our formulation. This small window allows us to produce our echinacea tincture according to industry guidelines as well as our own high standards for efficacy—and to offer custom blends* to wholesalers and retailers. It is varied proportions of Echinacea angustifolia pure root and whole plant combinations that determine unique signatures. Our manufacturing and blending is currently done through Capsol Inc, an Edmonton Alberta based company. Capsol is a custom manufacturer and private labeler of high-quality natural health products since 2000, Capsol operates under the strict guidelines of Canadian Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) set forth by Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) regulations (Site License No. 300253) All our tinctures are manufactured to our specifications following these high standards set out by Health Canada’s Natural Health Products Directorate.
