Staying Healthy During the Winter

No, we don't like the cold either.
And we often hear how the winter season brings with it the misfortune of seasonal colds and sickness. People commonly associate that to coming in and out of the chilly outdoors (especially in the cold northern climates). And while that isn't fun, there really is an accumulation of factors to consider. Winter weather brings us indoors, hibernating away from the fresh air. Less sunshine, less activity & exercise and poorer eating habits (lots of sugars/starches!). Combating these factors will help offset the hit our immune systems suffers.
Here are some ideas:
- Eat your fruits and veggies.
- Eat zinc-rich foods
- Don't hibernate – find a way to get out and moving. Join a gym!
- Avoid excessive sugars (drink herbal teas rather than hot chocolate!)
- Get your sleep!
Echinacea is a great natural way to prevent and treat cold symptoms! Stay healthy this winter!
